These Terms and Conditions govern the rental of the motorhome offered by Kodiak Travel ehf. ("we", "us", "our") to the customer ("you"). By submitting a booking request you agree to these terms in full.
1. The Rental Vehicles
We operate a fleet of motorhomes, including Sunlight A72 models on a Fiat Ducato chassis and a Mercedes Sprinter motorhome. The specific vehicle assigned to your booking will be confirmed at the time of booking. All vehicles are provided in clean, roadworthy condition with a full fuel tank and must be returned in the same condition and with a full tank.
2. Booking & Payment
A booking request is not confirmed until payment has been received in full. Once we approve your request we will send you a secure PayPal payment link via email. Your booking is confirmed upon successful payment.
Rental prices are quoted in Euros (€) and include VAT where applicable. Extras and insurance add-ons are included in the total payment as selected at the time of booking. The cancellation refund calculation is based on the total rental vehicle cost only, excluding extras.
3. Security Deposit
A refundable security deposit applies depending on your chosen insurance level:
- Standard: €2,000
- Silver: €1,000
- Gold: €500
- Platinum: €0
The deposit is collected at vehicle handover by pre-authorisation on a credit card. It is released within 7 business days of return, subject to no damage or outstanding charges.
4. Cancellation & Refunds
- Cancellation more than 30 days before pickup: full refund minus a €50 administration fee.
- Cancellation 14–30 days before pickup: 50% of rental cost refunded.
- Cancellation less than 14 days before pickup: no refund.
In the event that we must cancel a booking (e.g. vehicle is damaged before your rental), you will receive a full refund.
5. Driver Requirements
- Minimum age: 23 years.
- Must hold a valid full driving licence for at least 1 year.
- Licence must be valid for vehicles up to 3,500 kg (Category B in most countries).
- All drivers must be declared at booking. Additional drivers are included free of charge.
6. Permitted Use
- The vehicle may only be driven on paved roads and approved gravel roads open to regular traffic.
- F-roads (highland routes) are strictly prohibited. Driving on F-roads voids all insurance and the full cost of any damage will be charged.
- The vehicle must not be driven off-road, on beaches, or across rivers.
- The vehicle must not be used for any commercial purpose or sub-let.
- Towing of trailers, caravans, or any other vehicle is strictly prohibited.
- The vehicle may only be used within Iceland. Transporting the vehicle outside Iceland by ferry or any other means is not permitted.
- Smoking is not permitted inside the vehicle. A cleaning fee of €300 applies if evidence of smoking is found.
- Pets are permitted with prior agreement only.
7. Insurance & Damage
All rentals include Standard insurance (CDW — Collision Damage Waiver) as a baseline. Optional upgrades can be selected at the time of booking. The table below shows exactly what each tier covers.

Never covered by any tier: tyre damage, F-road or off-road driving damage, negligent or wilful damage, theft of personal belongings, and windscreen damage not caused by gravel stone chips.
Any damage must be reported to us immediately. Do not attempt repairs yourself.
8. Fuel & Fluids
The vehicle is provided with a full diesel tank and must be returned full. A refuelling fee of €50 plus the cost of fuel applies if returned with less than a full tank. The vehicle uses diesel only — misfuelling will be charged at full repair cost.
9. Breakdowns
In the event of a mechanical breakdown, contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to arrange assistance. Do not attempt repairs without authorisation. We are not liable for costs arising from breakdown delays (e.g. accommodation, missed flights).
10. Traffic Fines, Parking & Campsite Fees
Any traffic fines, speeding tickets, parking fines, tolls, or unpaid campsite fees incurred during the rental period are the full responsibility of the renter and must be paid on the spot. If such a fine or unpaid invoice is billed to us after your rental, we will charge the amount to you plus a €35 administration fee.
11. Minimum Rental Period & Advance Booking
The minimum rental period is 5 days. Bookings must be made at least 7 days in advance.
12. Pickup & Return
Pickup and return are at our premises at Langalína 2, 210 Garðabær. A vehicle handover inspection will be completed at both pickup and return. Any pre-existing damage will be noted on the handover form. Damage discovered at return that was not noted at pickup will be assessed and charged accordingly.
13. Late Returns
If the vehicle is returned late without prior agreement, a charge of €100 per hour applies.
14. Personal Belongings
We are not responsible for any personal belongings left in the vehicle. Unclaimed items will be held for 30 days and then donated or disposed of.
15. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Iceland. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Icelandic courts.
