A fully self-contained motorhome with kitchen, bathroom and sleeping for four — the smartest way to see Iceland.
Check Availability & BookThe terms "RV", "motorhome" and "camper" get used interchangeably by travellers planning an Iceland road trip. In North American usage, an RV (Recreational Vehicle) is a broad category covering everything from a small camper van to a full-size bus-style motorhome. In the Icelandic rental market, the most popular choice for independent travellers is a mid-to-large A-class motorhome — a purpose-built vehicle where the living space and cab are integrated into a single unit.
That is exactly what Kodiak Campers offers. Our fleet of A-class motorhomes — the Sunlight A72 and Sunlight A70 — are proper full-featured motorhomes, not converted vans or camping cars. Each has a real kitchen, a private bathroom with shower and toilet, comfortable beds and room for a family to live well for a two-week Iceland adventure.

Choose the motorhome that fits your group — both are fully self-contained and ready for Iceland.
We equip every motorhome so you can pick up and drive away — no supermarket run for pots and pans, no searching for extra blankets at midnight. Here is what you will find waiting for you:
Our preparation checklist is thorough. If anything is missing on pickup, we want to hear about it immediately — we stand behind every rental.
The most visited stretch in Iceland — and rightly so. Between Reykjavik and Höfn you have Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss, Vík, Reynisfjara, the Eldhraun lava field, Skaftafell and the diamond beach at Jökulsárlón. Budget at least three nights in this section.
The part of Iceland most travellers rush through but those who linger are rewarded. Djúpivogur, Seyðisfjörður (the rainbow street village), the reindeer herds near Egilsstaðir and the remote Borgarfjörður Eystri for puffin watching. Your RV is ideal here — accommodation options are sparse.
Akureyri, Iceland's "capital of the north," is a charming base. Nearby Mývatn offers pseudo-craters, Dimmuborgir lava formations, Námaskarð geothermal fields and the wild Ásbyrgi canyon. Goðafoss waterfall is a must-stop on the way.
A compact peninsula that feels like a microcosm of all Iceland. Glacier, lava fields, sea bird cliffs, fishing villages and Kirkjufell — arguably the country's most photographed mountain. An easy two-day side trip from Reykjavik.
Þingvellir National Park, Geysir and Gullfoss — the classic triangle that every Iceland visitor does at least once. On the return leg, detour via Kerið volcanic crater and the geothermal greenhouse tomato farms for something a little different.
The aurora borealis is visible across Iceland whenever skies are clear and solar activity is high (typically August through April). Your RV lets you chase dark skies — drive away from light pollution, park by a lake, and wait. No tour bus required.
We keep the booking process simple. Here is how it works from first click to pickup day:
Our minimum rental period is 5 days. Iceland's highlights are spread across the island — anything less than five days makes it difficult to experience more than the immediate vicinity of Reykjavik. We recommend at least 7 days for the South Coast plus Golden Circle loop, and 10–14 days for a full Ring Road circuit.
Daily rates for a quality motorhome in Iceland vary by season. High season (June–August) commands a premium. Our per-night rates are displayed transparently during the booking process. Add-ons like insurance upgrades, extra driver fees and optional equipment are itemised separately so you always know exactly what you are paying for before confirming.
No. Our motorhomes are road-going vehicles and are not permitted on F-roads (Icelandic highland tracks, marked with an "F" prefix). These tracks require high-clearance 4×4 vehicles and often involve river crossings. The good news is that all of Iceland's major attractions — including the Ring Road, Golden Circle, South Coast, Snæfellsnes and Mývatn — are fully accessible on paved or well-maintained gravel roads.
All rentals include 24/7 roadside assistance. If you experience a mechanical problem, call the number in your rental agreement and our partner assistance service will dispatch help. In the event of a serious breakdown requiring overnight repairs, we will do our best to provide alternative accommodation or a replacement vehicle, subject to availability.
Yes — all registered Icelandic campsites include toilet and shower facilities. You can choose to use the campsite facilities or the private bathroom in your motorhome. Most guests appreciate having the onboard option for late-night bathroom trips and early morning showers before other campers are awake.
We run a small, personal fleet — spots go quickly in summer. Secure your dates before someone else does.
